Vimto gets its name from "vim tonic" — it was an early kind of energy drink before it was a cordial, so what you get now is kind of a non-energy-drink version of an energy drink.

They've now released a Vimto energy drink, so you can get the energy drink version of the non-energy drink version of the energy drink.

The range also includes a zero-calorie version of the Vimto energy drink, which is an energy-free version of the energy drink version of the non-energy drink version of the energy drink.

I find it's better with sugar.

Right. It's Jenny Needs A New Side Gig time. Previous one ended cos they drank the AI Kool-Aid, thus documenting software as a profession has fallen to slop.

So what can I do? Chances of finding another website to write for are slim, any likely candidates would tread on Hackaday's toes.

Annoyingly I have lots of skills such as electronics stuff that don't show on my CV, because of my odd career.

It's all very difficult.

@NatGrayYes something to do with specific hayfever meds in my case - does something to increase risk of sudden heartattacks apparently. no idea what the ingredient or interaction was, but grapefruit and grapefruit juice called out specifically

@foone I tried marginalia-search.com/ recently and it's different. The result aren't as good as pre-Prabhakar google search but they are truly refreshing

anyone remember back in the 90s before google when search engines were just dogshit and it was really hard to find anything, and what search engines there were would sometimes just give you completely unrelated pages full of gibberish?
man, that was a terrible time for the web

did you know you can prompt other humans

you can be like "I want to make an app that is both a dating app and a financial management app and a trash calendar" and they'll prompt you back by asking if this is really a good idea

@eclectech wot no "crushing the meatbags. exterminate. EXTERMINATE!" ?
that would have been an easy win

"When the Doctor loses control of the Tardis, he finds himself transported to #Scarfolk, a town forever timed-locked in the 1970s. There he faces dangerous foes including a telekinetic child-owl called Roy; an overhead projector possessed by a demon, and a group of tutting pensioners"

I'll believe expensive RAM pushes companies towards more efficient code the moment high gas prices displace the pickup truck / generalized road tank market.

@anon_opin learn to talk about "exposure triangles" and drop in that you're still learning (that works for maybe the first 10 years or so, then you might need to change your camera and claim to be learning a new camera system instead). appear to take photos of odd things (like a champagne glass before the toast to the couple) to maintain the cover.

@anon_opin that's an easy real-life fix. get a cheap DSLR with as wide-glassed a lens as you can find. "take up" a new hobby of photography. always show up to events with it.
the moment you have a lens, you are behind it, and other photographers tend to leave you alone. it's a real-world invisibility cloak in social events, more so when cameraphones are a default option - it shows that you are "serious"
as a bonus you might find a new hobby in it, though that gets expensive.

Sad that hackers stole the Flock API key and didn't use it to crapflood their systems with the Epstein files

Doctorow: "In automation theory… a centaur is a person who is assisted by a machine. … Riding a bicycle or driving a car makes you a centaur; so does using the mute button on your TV remote when an ad comes on. Wearing a hearing aid makes you a centaur, and so does using a calculator to multiply large numbers."

We had a slightly different word for all of that when I was in school: cyborg.
