@anon_opin that's an easy real-life fix. get a cheap DSLR with as wide-glassed a lens as you can find. "take up" a new hobby of photography. always show up to events with it.
the moment you have a lens, you are behind it, and other photographers tend to leave you alone. it's a real-world invisibility cloak in social events, more so when cameraphones are a default option - it shows that you are "serious"
as a bonus you might find a new hobby in it, though that gets expensive.
Doctorow: "In automation theory… a centaur is a person who is assisted by a machine. … Riding a bicycle or driving a car makes you a centaur; so does using the mute button on your TV remote when an ad comes on. Wearing a hearing aid makes you a centaur, and so does using a calculator to multiply large numbers."
We had a slightly different word for all of that when I was in school: cyborg.
@anon_opin I thought we were using the doughnut as our benchmark?
no corner to hide in, etc etc

@anon_opin I know what I'm looking at under the bonnet, and can accurately describe what the majority of the parts really do.
on rare occasions I can even tell you what some of them did.
real-world though, unless I'm lucky enough to have the right bits/fluids/tools handy, it's just to let other road-users know that the automobile is no longer mobile and imminently will not be auto either
@rgarner once it can understand my life will it then report back and tell me what the heck is going on?
I can see a real use for that...
@anon_opin I'm around there age-wise and have committed approximately 0 hours of my life trying to be interested in sport.
luckily I don't feel I've wasted those 0 hours yet.
Oh look, another Mastodon instance is protecting the fascists from my horrifying incivility toward them. Big surprise that it's Hachyderm, eh, @davidgerard ?
Twenty five years ago today I started the #Safari and #WebKit projects at #Apple Computer.
Which means Safari is now old enough to rent itself a car. But let's not speculate about my age.
I'm still sad I can't use Safari on my Windows PC. Alas, I lost the battle to keep it there. But at least WebKit's DNA seeded or influenced most browsers we use today.
And I'm proud of that impact. Along with the wonderful team I built who made it all happen. Here's to another 25, friends.
Cheers. 🥂😊💖
