JLR parent Tata Motors somehow put their AWS secret keys on their own website
@reverseics and truthfully, the exec staff on the ship pretty much treat Worf the same way as everyone else who pays for enterprise security.
Ignore all warnings, dismiss all advice to actually secure things until it’s too late and dramatic conflict is afoot.
“ok, i want you to take a look at this address. memorize it. you may need it when you’re on the ground, but you can’t take it with you - it’s where you’ll find our field agents who can assist you if you get into trouble.”
“but…but…this is an IPv6 address.”
“that’s right. like i say, memorize it. good luck, 007.”
@mattgrayyes it's a warning that not only can a swan break your arm, it now also has the means to cook you once it has done so.
@mattround acquired dependency. think about taking google away from your earlier techies in the 2010s

@mattround while this does address the obvious reputational concerns, there are a fair few social media and website accounts which take over / steal retired/dead/dormant sites and accounts for this reason, so due dilligence and regular activity of the account/site is still needed, sadly
You can now order your new ThinkPad with Ubuntu or Fedora Linux pre installed directly from factory. This is the perfect out of the box laptop for your dev job or IT pros stuff. Say goodbye to the "Windows tax" and hello to a powerful, fully optimized, privacy and data safety ready Linux machine.. unless you specifically require a Win11 environment. I think it is fantastic news for developers & IT Pros and I hear you can even upgrade BIOS/firmware using Linux. So there is no more need for Win11😉
You remember what a Palantír is in LOTR?
They were basically ancient magical network connections, that had been corrupted by the forces of evil into surveillance machine that also broke the minds of anyone who used them for extended periods of time, turning them into paranoid, delusional, shadows of themselves or outright tools of evil.
Anyway, just thinking about the symbolism of Palantír being the name of the company that powers the modern surveillance state in the US, don't mind me.
