I really wish people understood the value of a solid long-term internet footprint when approaching strangers about possible business deals. It’s not just about confidence that someone’s who they say they are, it really helps if there’s a sense that there’s a reputation out there to protect

Obviously there are dodgy people out there, but I think there are also many others who just don’t get the problem with having a load of faceless companies, they don’t appreciate establishing trust via human/social/branding aspects

@mattround while this does address the obvious reputational concerns, there are a fair few social media and website accounts which take over / steal retired/dead/dormant sites and accounts for this reason, so due dilligence and regular activity of the account/site is still needed, sadly

@evilstevie Oh definitely, rare for whole active identity to get taken though & hard to fake extensive history & connections
