This might be one of the oddest tiny planets I've captured. Taken by sticking the camera over the outer wall of Stirling Castle, at the point where there is a LONG drop down the castle crag cliff to the land below. The top half is within the castle grounds (garden at the back of the chapel and the end of the museum building), the bottom half is the surrounding lush lowland.
A new Blue Plaque has turned up on Trafalgar Street
“carnival against fascism. The Battle of Trafalgar Street. It was here on the 13th of June 2026 that police used batons and pepper spray on the people of Brighton in an attempt to force a far-right march through the city. Over 4000 Brightonians resisted and the fascists did not March. BRIGHTON IS ANTI FASCIST”

New Swiss magazine with "Ohne KI" (No #AI) on the cover.
Nice to see some publishers openly resisting.
I've had to make a tough choice. That land plot I wanted is going to have to wait. The short story is that, I did a lot of research to figure out everything that I'd need to make that plot livable, and essentially, I would end up sinking a couple hundred thousand into it.
I don't have that money. I'd have to come up with it over time, or take out a construction loan that would cost double my mortgage right now.
I'm not giving up on my future in a land that I consider to be paradise for both my appreciation for nature, and also for my memories and nostalgia rooted in the region, but I cannot in good conscience invest in a plot of land that would take over a decade to come to fruition. Especially not in a city where they have HOA rules, but with literally none of the benefits.
I was given a lot of information about the city and HOA bylaws, and the restrictions on the land are kind of restrictive.
If hypothetically, I had to commit over 230,000 dollars to close to 300,000 dollars depending on how shit my luck is, I would like to know that outside of the law, I can do whatever the fuck I want to do on it.
I’ve been working with computers for five decades. Some people view me as an “expert” in certain subjects.
And I can tell you that when I am learning a new technology I still feel like the dumbest newb on the planet. I make tons of mistakes. I go down stupid rabbit holes of my own making. I have tons of self doubt.
So give yourself some grace. Everybody goes through this phase. Take a deep breath. Believe that you can do this.
@gsuberland you mistyped hootup
ok this is so cool. this LED manufacturer designed maybe the coolest demo brochure possible for their COB LEDs, its a ringed binder where each of the pages is a PCB that you plug in and can control via touch to toggle which strips are on :o

And now I have chipped it. Ironically, I have no photos of the process, but its aperture is now aperturing on every Canon SLR (digital and film) I have.
Would you like to see what the inner close courtyard at Stirling Castle would look like, if it was a teeny tiny planet sphere? Well, who wouldn't.
Top left is the chapel, top right is the great hall, bottom right the palace, bottom left the regimental museum.
A good wee planet, but slightly lacking in greenery for my liking.
Hey, I'm going to give this a try. #Fedihire
I have written tons of blogs, whitepapers, books, and ad copy for tech companies about cybersecurity and general enterprise IT. See my portfolio: https://kimcrawley.com
I used to make a comfortably liveable income. But since the Gen AI menace, my livelihood has been destroyed and I can't pay my rent. I'm now writing Kickstarter funded self published books to survive.
I could really use proper writing gigs, though.
Some of the bestselling cybersecurity books, such as The Pentester Blueprint, were partly or completely written by me.

I am terribly sorry to interrupt your doomscrolling, but this morning's Low Quality Ad is for this Fat Squirrel Pin. Look at him. He's bulking up for winter. In the winter, he will continue to bulk up for the summer. He is permanently round.
