The Zoo Trip Photo Thread
Although I'm sure I will get distracted with scribbling at points, I have a few photos from our trip to Chester Zoo that I just want to post to say LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY, so I am going to stick them together as I sort through 🧵
This is the first. A purple starling and, well, LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!

The very serious and contemplative white-headed vulture, looking a little like it's wearing a very fetching black feather boa.
Also, don't want to be picky, but it really should be called a pink and blue headed vulture.

Mongoose! There were many others out of shot, which I deeply feel should be described as mongeese, but I think are mongooses (we had quite a lengthy conversation about this at the time).

I don't miss twitter much but in the old days it could be quite fun.
I followed a guy called Roger Quimbly and every 6 months he'd post this
"Heinous.
Does that rhyme with Penis or Anus?
Send your one word answers to @PiersMorgan "
And Piers Morgan would have a day of tons of people just tweeting Penis or Anus at him. The first couple of times he had no idea why. Brilliant.
It’s prairie coneflower season. They’re such fun, silly flowers, and I’m happy to see some red ones this year. 🌼👀
Fediverse! I need your help.
I bought this hanging floating-candle candelabra thing as a teenager, and it survived some 20 years until my mum decided to transport it up to me.
Two of the votives are broken. I have scowered Etsy and eBay and various search engines and not found anything to replace them.
It's rather beautiful lit up, but I haven't been able to enjoy it as an adult.
Can you help? I either need 2 replacement votives or 6. 1/2 #candles #crafts #glass #GlassBlowing
Apologies for the terrible photos.
Ideally, I would like to replace them with matching votives, but given I bought this in the late 90s and there's no mark to say who made it, I get that's a slim chance. But these specific votives are beautiful lit up. IDK if this is something a glass blower could try to duplicate??
Failing that, something that would fit the hangers and sit well with the other votives.
I am disabled on benefits so cannot afford much, but this is special to me. 2/2
Irregular reminder that I'm still looking for work of the type I'd get paid for (I can find the other type much more easily). I'm a software developer in New Zealand. There's a wide range of technology I'm happy working with but I'd probably be able to get up to speed fastest on a project using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, React, and TypeScript.
My CV is at https://thunix.net/~jeremylist/cv.html. (pdf and odt versions available upon request)

@stavvers They've just seen the price of swift bricks in the area.
@stavvers
they're screaming because that's a natural reaction to being in england
I'd forgotten that, back in 2019, I adapted the shot of 'tank man' in Tiananmen Square. It feels even more relevant now.
