PS If a viral report goes around saying there’s a vulnerability and you should protect yourself by turning off link previews for a couple of days, there’s really not a lot of cost to being cautious about it. I understand the desire to avoid being “a sucker” but It’s not like someone is asking you to eat a Tide Pod.
Been playing with the images I got from the 360 camera, so am going to extend this thread with some slightly more abstract images from the forest.
I maintain that dangling colourful slinkies above peoples' heads is the best use of them I've encountered; the only one that stops them getting all tangled up & an interesting photographic opportunity too.
Bottom right is my fave though.

Yesterday’s annular eclipse as viewed from a city park on the outskirts of Hondo, #Texas. There was a broad layer of high clouds when we arrived but luckily they broke up & blew away just in time for the main event. Had to get up in the wee hours and drive 225 miles (362 km) west to get right in the center of the path but it was well worth it.

More from the Plague Ships series.
Cruise liners sat just off the south Devon coast for 18 months during Covid. At first they were a magnificent sight but, after weeks and then months passed, their presence became more and more malevolent.

Day 15 of #photOctober2023 and the themes are breakfast and mountain. I'm ignoring breakfast (other than eating it as I looked through my photos) because I have an absolute favourite mountain photo & I don't really know why I bothered looking through any others.
This is the largest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, looking like an elephant.
I mean. Really. 🐘
I *really* dislike the use of "hallucination" as a way to describe the behavior of LLMs. Not because it anthropomorphizes them, but because hallucinations are disorders of sensory perception. They don't make you spew out plausibly-sounding bullshit.
If you need a familiar term, "confabulation" is probably a better pick.
Day 14 of #photOctober2023 and the themes are blurred and street sign.
I took this as I walked up a hill on the narrow road on the St Abbs Nature Reserve. As I slowly approached the sign, and paused to take in the view and a deep breath, I thought to myself "rude!"
