wait wait wait holdup.
you can plug an hdmi device into a computer, and you get ..
...
... autorun.inf functionality?
it installs and runs entirely without user consent?
so we're back to evil usb sticks again that autorun shit, except now ... a malicious... firestick? chromecast? ..
hdmi is the new usb?
Went out into the garden to try and identify a bird of prey swooping about overhead that I spotted while washing up. It immediately flew off at top speed, so no luck there, but then I found this majestic beast in the tree so all was not lost 😆
I've been doing radio at BornHack, over on Jenny's Bench.

a great video from #Veritasium about #Markov chains. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZeIEiBrT_w
I have played with them myself and I used a number of them here http://bleepbloop.net to simulate a computer operating system that is failing and constantly rebooting. Everyone thinks it is using artificial intelligence, but all of the prompts are loaded in from .txt files and Markov chains remix that content when a prompt is required.
Rather enjoying the beauty of the web slowly fading to black as site after site ramps up its invasiveness. They say I need to disable my script blocking, give up my privacy, my data, my bandwidth, my time to read their probably-AI-generated crap. I need to suffer their ads, popovers and auto-play video promos - just no. Calmly and without any anger, no. I know they finance themselves that way, but we are all free to make choices. My choice is no.
I just shrug and move on. Yet another site is dead to me - nothing lost.
HOLY SHIT I can't believe how fun that set was. it's 2.10am and I'm still buzzing.
my absolute honour to close out Nullsector and, I suppose, #emfcamp as a whole.
massive thanks to @solexious and @DanHatesNumbers for running lighting and lasers for it, the visuals looked incredible.
#nullsector, it was my absolute pleasure to draw pretty patterns in the air for you all tonight while @gsuberland absolutely smashed the closing set of #emfcamp at nullsector tonight! What an incredible experience 🥲😁

It’s fascinating seeing notifications for boosts here, where something you wrote a year or two ago will suddenly be found by someone, who boosts it, and then a little flurry of other people do.
It really makes you realise how much recency bias there is in most other systems, including most web forum software. Sometimes that’s useful (I don’t want obsolete solutions to be highlighted in preference to the ones that actually work), but it also makes writing there seem ephemeral. Here, a conversation can start up after two years of silence when someone comes up with something new to contribute. And that’s incredible.
