I have made an M42 camera. Very literally, it has no film or sensor.

It's as a testing buck, to represent the front half of an SLR camera for working on sensor assembles for the back.

asking a senior eng to use ai is like asking a professional cyclist to ride a children’s bike with training wheels that also has a reverse steering mechanism for some reason

anyway good advice for everyone out there anywhere at all: there is no stronger position in the world than the one in which you are willing to walk away rather than be dealt a bad deal.

always be willing to walk away.

For decades(?) we laughed at the hacker-news commenters who felt they could build Dropbox in a weekend.

We knew that engineer was confusing the ability to write a POC with an actual enterprise-ready solution.

AI now lets everyone be that engineer.

Now I've heard there was a secret path
The hacker typed and it pleased the app
But you don't really sanitize it, do ya?
It goes like this, dot dot, then slash
Then up a dir, no not to /trash
The filesystem "just doing what I told ya"

../. ./.. /../ ../ ../ ../

Probably getting laid off today or next tuesday, in case anyone is looking for a low latency Java developer with 20+ years in the fintech space. Solid distributed performance analysis bonafides, as well as k8s bottleneck clearing.

I once got a trading platform from 700mics median to 39 mics median in a prod environment during a multimillion dollar hardware migration. Amusingly that is probably why I will find there are no seats available for me in the next few weeks. Nothing scares establishment more than someone who understands how the machines work when they do not.

Anyway, keep me in mind, willing to move, but remote is pretty dang efficient. I like efficient.
