You know why we Germans are so pedantic about data protection? Someone around 90 years ago went through all records available, selected people with certain criteria, with the help of IBM, and then killed them all.
We don't want to be on any list.
And now the US Gov and Musk are trying to get access to all data they have about every person and put them into a big fat DB and run AI over it.
I am afraid what they will do with that.
Musk and his cyber-terrorists are now moving into IRS records. If they get away with this, that's pretty much the ballgame, folks.

Winter is waning

Spring will be here soon
BREAKING: A bunch of U.S. Digital Service employees (including me) were fired tonight. It's still unclear exactly how many. There is no visibility whatsoever into what determined who was let go. Legacy USDS (i.e., pre-DOGE) leadership was not involved in the decision about whom to let go and was not notified in advance that people were going to be fired.

The amount of love and support from the fedi pouring into my notifications tonight is very much appreciated. I don't take it for granted, and I appreciate you all. 🫂
I'm looking for a new job doing security assessments / research.
I spent the last 6 years building advanced security assessment capabilities around hardware/IoT, industrial, marine OT, and x86 platforms. Before that I spent 5 years as a pentester. I excel at weird and novel stuff with no template.
I'm in the UK and I'm looking for a remote full-time role.

Please get in touch if you know of any available roles! :)
A group of 20-somethings with names like "Big Balls" gain unauthorized access to your servers, delete data, take your website down, and now you can't serve your customers and your organization goes belly up unless you pay money to a mafia boss.
Sounds a lot like ransomware, doesn't it? When your government starts imitating ransomware playbooks, it's a four-alarm fire. At least in theory one can negotiate with ransomware actors.
Could this be a cuff link?
If this is a cuff link then I know what it is.
If it's *not* a cuff link I have no idea what it is, but it's living in my desk drawer 🤷♀️
