I found this is near Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye. I'm not sure what they were in their original form, and I'm not sure what they are now, but I rather like both.

Trump has less than a week to arrange a $454 million bond. There are 331.9 million US citizens. If each American spends only $1.37, then we can all buy a cheap chocolate bar to enjoy while we watch the State of New York seize Trump's properties.

Rocket propellants are often fun. This one is designed to fuck things up on a magnitude that's up there with Project PLUTO, by using elemental fluorine reacting with liquid lithium _heated by cesium-137_.

For when you absolutely positively have to fuck literally everything that so much as looks at your exhaust funny.

It's the 26th anniversary of SNL's only airing of likely the most subversive sketch in the show's entire history: "Conspiracy Theory Rock" –– a Robert Smigel cartoon that, unsurprisingly, would be cut from all future reruns.

Smigel (my old boss!) posted this version today, which is much higher quality than the terrible one going around YouTube. Share this one!

Do you ever get sad because the cyberpunk dystopia we're living in is so much stupider than the one we were promised?

Does anyone have any opinions on handheld emulator consoles? I'm thinking I might purchase my first piece of gaming hardware since the Xbox 360 and I have very little knowledge to draw on.

What I'm thinking: I really want to be able to emulate at least into the dreamcast era, and pushing the extra step into ps2/gc would probably be 99%+ of every game I'd ever want emulated. My cursory research suggests that the Ayn Odin 2 would be ideal for this, as well as even emulating some switch games. Would love to hear any opinions of it, and switch games are more of a nice-to-have so if there are cheaper systems that handle the rest I'd be interested to hear about that as well.

This is one post I'd really like to see boosted into the tech corner of fedi because I could really use perspective from people who've actually kept up with this stuff.

Super happy with my Framework laptop by the way!

The module system is great. I printed a snack drawer today! Now I can always take three peanuts with me!

Plague Ships.

Back in the first year of the plague cruise liners began to appear off the coast of South Devon. At first an incredible sight; vast, sleek temples of luxury. But, after a while, as they sat there, empty and redundant, they became a far more malign sight; emblematic of the state we had allowed ourselves to get to. They sat there for almost 18 months. We promised that we would "build back better". Now they're gone and that promise forgotten.

Few men even considered the possibility of having a moral and ethics in their minds and yet, across the fibers on the seafloor, minds immeasurably greedier to ours regarded this society with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us.

Cue music...

No one would have believed, in the early years of the 21st century, that human affairs were being watched from the server racks in cyberspace. No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
