The goal of the companies who run AIs is to
1. get us all to use AI until the point where
2. we're dependent on AI, then
3. remove all access to AI and
4. grant the privilege of use only to those who pay a monthly fee,
5. which will periodically rise
6. while the service becomes worse and worse.
It'll be enshittification of enshittification.

these 24TB drives are *insanely* cheap (£10.83/TB)
they're only rated for 2400h/yr operation (so 27% uptime) and 120TB/yr (which is only 0.137DWPD, aka 5DWPY) but they're CMR. not bad as an infrequent secondary or tertiary backup solution.
quite tempted to get one as a cheap temporary backup store for the NAS. plug it in once every 4-6 months and save a copy of the pool to it.

I'm looking for an artist who can turn details from photos of about 10-15 paintings and sculptures into clear B&W line drawings for printing in a book. Artist should be proficient in Gothic art and familiar with late medieval/renaissance material culture eg. from a background in living history or the SCA or costuming. My budget is not huge but I can pay. Not sure what hashtags to use. Examples of an original and a redrawing below. #boostsAppreciated #ArtistWanted

behold the "HTML bomb"
it's a defensive counterattack on AI web-scrapers that persistently scrape and rescrape your web site, even when you tell them not to
the bomb file *looks* like a tiny HTML page, but when scraped -- or even requested by a regular browser ...
... it unpacks into a huge-ass 10-gig HTML page ...
... which quickly crashes any browser or scraper
