It’s a threshold for bullshit issue.

Sure I’ll ask it to do some pretty off-piste things at times… but I won’t complain about those.

Second, I won’t be quiet because this is an enormous accessibility issue. If we want to get more people on Linux/OtherOS then we really need to smooth these obstacles out.

Nobody should need to do open heart surgery on their OS to make it work for them.

Before anyone comes at me for complaining about my Linux desktop experience you should know I’m committed to making it succeed.

I won’t, however, be quiet about all the issues I’ll inevitably have. Especially given that so many in the community talk down to others and tell us it ‘just works’ or ‘just install XYZ’, or why don’t you learn Linux bro?

My brothers in Christ, I was programming ASM before you were born, I have code literally *in* the Linux kernel and other packages. It’s not a ‘skill issue’.

We've created a society where being confidently wrong pays better than being cautiously right. Is it any wonder we're drowning in bullshit merchants?

1. The guy who does whatever he wants
2. The people too scared to stop him
3. The courts he openly ignores

I‘m not opposed to billionaires using rockets to visit space. It’s them coming back that irks me.

@davidgerard 48kHz is the metric sample rate, used by Napoleon. 44.1 is the Imperial sample rate, used by Queen Victoria and ultimately derived from the Roman sample rate of 400 hectoHz, used on Roman CDs ("CD" being 400 in Roman numerals).

There's a message in yesterday's UK Supreme Court decision about trans people, for everyone else.

For the far right people who are behind this, trans people are the wedge issue. They will not stop at us, and eventually you'll find yourselves where we are.

You'll know the Niemoller poem: "First they came for the socialists... ". In fact, at the start of 1933, first they came for the trans people, but he didn't know that.

If like him you say nothing, don't blame us when they come for you.

If you are a British trans person, join a trade union. If they come for you in the workplace, you will need a big stick.

When it happened to me, I was very glad of my union membership.

Probably the last CVE indexed before it goes dark should be CVE-2025-DOGE (critical, local privilege escalation vulnerability that leads to malicious code execution and data exfiltration).
