@35millimetre oooh nice. I've got an XA2 I used as a point and shoot for a bit (pre-digital days) and my dad's XA when he finally ditched film. amazing, tiny, dense cameras, but my shooting style is largely incompatible with film :(

@eclectech I'm not as brave as you guys - mine is fully managed on masto.host, so I'm sure it could take a bit of strain, but if I start adding more and more people, I'd obviously need to upgrade the account.
The main reason for getting my own server was partly just to see how it works, but also so I can post gifs and other stuff without feeling guilty for piggy-backing.

I definitely feel better posting pics & gifs knowing it's my own server though, although there might be some benefits to an admin at the end of a digital connection rather than sitting the other side of the room, where you can see their expression when they're reviewing resource use.
