Multiple GNOME contributors have told me that they feel it is pointless to vocally oppose the use of generative tooling and that they feel it is just a matter of time before a pro-slop policy is officially adopted by GNOME.
I want you all to know that the relentlessly anti-AI stance is the popular opinion. If you state your opposition as well, you'll be in good and plentiful company.
Edit: Are you a GNOME contributor who is demotivated by AI? Please reach out.
@ozzelot does it involve formatting and installing not-Windows instead?
"AI can escape containment and hack organizations, but you can trust it with your data."
"AI can slip out of alignment and develop prerogatives that conflict with yours, but you should turn important tasks related to your work, health, finances and family life over to it."
"There's a chance AI will lead to extinction, but you should welcome its data centers into your communities."
The cognitive dissonance is unbelievable.
The other day I posted an original graphite drawing on paper, and it sold in just a few hours, so I’m back with these two, hoping for some more luck.

Two people I knew took their own lives last week - we still view mental health with too much cynicism and not enough compassion - remember a 😬 - it is not weak to share how you feel #mentalhealth #depression #suicideawareness
@robinince big internet hugs
@ozzelot I started on A100, used up a few (shutter buttons wear out, who'd have guessed) and now on my second A700 (shutters wear out on those before the buttons - an improvement I guess)
@ozzelot it's the minolta-designed 500mm AF mirror lens. in the right conditions it is amazing. in the wrong conditions it's merely a mirror lens...
(massive seperation between subject and *anything* else in shot, otherwise you get the doughnut effect, especially on lights)
@gsuberland how the shuddering fork did you manage that?
stabbity-time or an unfinished edge?
@ozzelot bring it over to the UK and borrow my lenses :D
got a wide range from 500mm to 4x macro in a-mount goodness :D
I made a video about a homebrew 3D display that uses LEDs and rapidly spinng parts!
