I'm dying here. Just had a customer come in, asking where his drink was. We never got any mobile orders for him.

"I asked ChatGPT to order it for me and it said I could pick it up."

@35millimetre yay!
(I forgot birthday, knew it was one of 2, other half had told them both dates I'd say it was)

Remember that dude with the Plasticine Action tshirt, with the pic of Morph on it, who got arrested for wearing it in London? He has set up a site selling the tshirts with all proceeds going to the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). You know what to do! ⬇️ plasticineaction.com

I tried a GitHub Copilot PR review as it's been ages since I last did.

It was wrong on 3 out of 3 suggestions it made:

1. It suggested inverting the IP ACL and API key check such that it'd have allowed anyone to purge anything from our CDN cache
2. It said I'd got some basic logic wrong (I hadn't) on 1 of ~20 changes of the same type (var not set or var == "" -> strlen(var) == 0)
3. It made up a service name and wanted me to use that

What a pile of shit.

No, I didn't "forget your name", I didn't store it in the first place, it's called being GDPR compliant.

The goal of the companies who run AIs is to

1. get us all to use AI until the point where

2. we're dependent on AI, then

3. remove all access to AI and

4. grant the privilege of use only to those who pay a monthly fee,

5. which will periodically rise

6. while the service becomes worse and worse.

It'll be enshittification of enshittification.

these 24TB drives are *insanely* cheap (£10.83/TB)

they're only rated for 2400h/yr operation (so 27% uptime) and 120TB/yr (which is only 0.137DWPD, aka 5DWPY) but they're CMR. not bad as an infrequent secondary or tertiary backup solution.

quite tempted to get one as a cheap temporary backup store for the NAS. plug it in once every 4-6 months and save a copy of the pool to it.
