Mentioned how when I made Mona Beaker my original had a smile, before I reverted back to Beaker's mouth. Thought I'd share the alternate versions.
The "let's turn that frown upside down" version, and the "is it still enigmatic when paired with that nose?" version.

@wholesomedonut @neotoy @anji my go-to is
"yes, this is effectively a tick-the-box exercise. the box you're ticking is 'do I want to have a job' so please do it right"
An electrician had to cut a hole in our drywall and instead of just patching it up, my wife decided to make a little scene with miniatures embedded in the wall. 😂🖼️🤯
Edit: https://pixelfed.social/@thisfunhouse has some more pictures of the subway and I will post lots more quirky art over there.
Good morning Mastodon. I have had a lazy morning and it was very fine. Have a boop.
@awoo I'm scared by the migratory antics of Dorchester
could you remind it that it lives next door to Weymouth please?
Some old blackhouses in the Scottish Highlands weight their thatch down with stones. These ones made me think of those theme park rides where people dangle from a track.
That one in the front has just seen what's coming.
Lichee Console 4A portable RISC-V development terminal review – Part 1: Unboxing, teardown, and hands on
Sipeed has just sent me a “Lichee Console 4A portable RISC-V development terminal” for review. It’s a quad-core RISC-V mini laptop based on the Alibaba T-Head TH1520 processor with a 7-inch touchscreen display, and my model is equipped with a Lichee LM4A module …

@aldroid indeed, but ~400 bucks is a bit spendy vs an x86/x64 unless you're wanting the RISC arch to play with, which I think is the whole point.
that form-factor and layout calls to me, though.
a db9 serial port on the back, and I'd be on the waiting list now ;)
@cnxsoft very strong echoes of a Thinkpad that went through a hot wash by mistake there. almost a shame the nipple isn't in the classic GBH triangle, but for the smaller form shuffling it down a row looks to be more sensible.
some serious new-toy envy from me :)
I'm delighted to announce the release of my latest Elite-related project: the Elite Compendium for the BBC Master.
The Compendium is a collection of the very best of Acornsoft Elite, updated with as many hacks and enhancements as I've been able to fit in. If you're looking to play 8-bit Elite, then this is a pretty good place to start.
You can find out more information at https://www.bbcelite.com/hacks/elite_compendium.html
You can play the Compendium in your browser at https://bbc.godbolt.org/?model=Master&autoboot&disc=https://www.bbcelite.com/versions/elite_compendium/elite-compendium.dsd
The Compendium contains four versions of Elite - BBC Master 128, 6502 Second Processor, BBC Micro disc and Teletext Elite - plus the Elite Universe Editor.
All the games have been updated to run beautifully on the Master, with flicker-free ships and planets, music, and volume control for both music and sound effects.
The BBC Master 128 version also has features backported from the various other 6502 versions (such as Trumbles! red lasers! insta-docking! and more).
Enjoy!
American physicist and chemist Katharine Burr Blodgett was born #OTD in 1898.
She was the inventor of a technique for making non-reflecting "invisible" glass, a material used in virtually all camera lenses & many other optical devices. She was also responsible for developing an instrument that can measure film thicknesses to within a few angstroms. She did research on methods of removing ice from airplane wings. She is also credited with the development of a new type of smoke screen.
