the era of games where:

- it came on a CD in a big cardboard box
- the installer was full screen with a gradient background, and maybe played music
- it installed Visual C++ Runtime
- it installed DirectX

I think people who didn't live through the era of boxed software are unprepared for how big those boxes were and how much drawer/shelf space they took up if you kept them.

@gsuberland really liked the OS/2 Warp install pack. Originally bought as a cheap way to obtain 20+ HD floppies but I fell in live with the OS during a quick test.

it broke Worms though :/
