Day 12 of #photOctober2023 and the themes are "on the road" and "panoramic".

This 20yr old panorama shows our old car on the road by Loch Hourn in the Scottish Highlands.

It was stitched together by hand. The camera attempted to assist but it needed a lot of help - so much work compared to just twirling around with your SmartPhone.

It was very satisfying though & I've always liked taking them on paths & roads.

We came from here.

We're going there.

Heh. Chuckling to myself at the work involved in my old panoramas & realised it's not even a case of swirling around with your mobile these days. You can visit virtually on Google StreetView.

Obviously not the same in many ways, but in case you're interested this is the location of the above photo.

@eclectech ooh nice. Ardamurchan is on my list of Places To Go but my nearest chance so far was during an extra-stormy west coast week while I was on my motorbike. Managed to splosh up to Dunnett Head and John O'Groats instead though.

@evilstevie Hah, yes, the west coast is one to try and catch on a non-stormy day! Dunnett Head is ace though, although seems to be quite blowy even on a good weather day.

@eclectech Dunnett was a bit blowy but the whole week was downpouring rain. Originally intended to camp but ended up in a b&b in Inverness to dry out a little.

@evilstevie Oh what a shame. At least the midges aren't good at flying in heavy rain.

@eclectech it was still good, and I got to have beans on toast at the Pitlochry boating station while watching ducklings :)
