A big spider made a web on our balcony tonight. I was watching her work, and now she finished her lovely web and is waiting patiently. I managed to snap a 500mm pic of her with the moon as the background. Really hard to get it to show with so much contrast, and to get it sharp with all the wind.

Ok, I went back out and tried again, now that the wind has died down. I set a flashlight on the ground aiming up to give her some definition, and it turned amazingly sharp this time. Pretty spider. Anyone know how to ID? I'm not spiderversed.

@joabaldwin according to essig.berkeley.edu/identificat
it looks most like a European garden spider
(sorry, invasive species from our side of the pond)

@joabaldwin also, that's an awesome shot. the fill-in works great for adding the foreground contrast against the moon :)

@evilstevie thanks! I was trying to get some web detail against the moon but it mostly got lost no matter how I exposed it. There’s just a bit of it.
